Cereal Out!

Lately Savannah is not interested in her breakfast cereal. I've tried adding fresh fruit, Applesauce and her food pouches but none have really worked. She likes the spoon so I'll put some cereal on it to give to her but it only works a couple times. It seems to be recommended for her to eat because of the added iron.

I remembered the bread Marc used for sandwiches was Iron Kids with extra iron.  She loves it - score! So many days she gets a piece of toast for breakfast with either peanut butter, jelly or cream cheese on it (or peanut butter and jelly like today). I've made her grilled cheese sandwiches (with tomatoes like mommy eats) for lunch a couple times too and she gobbles them up too.

I still keep trying the cereal some days since we have a whole container left and  she's prone to switch her tastes back and forth a lot. I just make a couple tablespoons of it each time so we don't waste a lot.

Black Friday Shopping

While others were freezing their butts off waiting in lines overnight, fighting for the last cheap blender and exhibiting shameful behavior to get their kids the latest "must have" toys, Savannah and I did our Black Friday shopping at the Children's Play Place. Complete with a cute little shopping cart she flew around at great speed! She looked mighty Happy with her purchases, and no added stress!!

I had no plans of going out this morning as I didn't want anything to do with the Black Friday mess out there.. However we had a rough one last night which ended in Savannah going to sleep the final time a little after 2 and me at 2:30 (to make sure she stayed down and was OK). I was so exhausted this morning and decided the play place would be better than using the TV to entertain her while I was a zombie.

It worked out great! In addition to her shopping trip, she played in the kitchen with her new "purchases". I showed her the drawers and she started putting the toys in them. She then figured out the Microwave and oven also opened so she made hot utensils for breakfast :-)

In true form, she also spent time playing with puzzles, the first couple didn't keep her attention but the third really got her interested. It has 5 different colored pegs and on each peg goes shapes in matching colors - the left peg has 5 blue hexagons, the second has 4 red squares etc. She pulled all of the shapes off one by one and examined them with a big smile. Then she decided to put them back. The first couple I pointed to the peg for her to put them on, she did then did a few more herself to the correct peg. I'm constantly amazed by this girl!

There was also a little car there and no surprise she was very interested in it. I helped her into it and pushed it around some to get her the idea and she was off! Well, in reverse lol It was on artificial grass which seemed to not let it move very easily. It was so cute when she grabbed the wheel and started turning it (prop - doesn't actually turn the car) while saying "vroom"!

A great morning for us - it's easy to tell when she falls asleep in the car before we get out of the parking lot! Could've only been better if Daddy hadn't had to work and could've come with us..

And Then There Were Four

Shortly before Thanksgiving I realized that I was late - and a test confirmed pregnant!

I wanted Savannah to tell Marc but since she doesn't talk yet I headed to Pinterest to find ideas. A couple caught actually my eye. I made a sign, attached it to Savannah's back and set her off to play in the loft. Marc had gone downstairs to get the vacuum so I figured he'd see in a couple minutes..

While he did notice there was something on her back he didn't see it was a sign so he proceeded to vacuum. I waited 10 or so minutes but nothing so I headed to Savvy's room to start putting her clothes away. In a couple minutes I heard Marc exclaim "What?!?" and come into Sav's room grinning. "Really?!". Yup! I was glad to tell him. :)

One of the other ideas I saw was an eviction notice on the crib. It was perfect to send as a picture to my parents across the country.. I was hoping Sav would get upset when I put her in the crib since it was no where near nap time but she was all smiles and happy. Regardless, it got the point across!

Update on the Felt Menorah

She found it! Not that it’s surprising but I was still happy it wasn’t a waste.. In horrible coloring, here is the original picture of the menorah.

And here is the next morning (still in pajamas) of Savannah playing with it..

It didn’t take her long to get the (glued on!) menorah off.. And try to eat it.. And while I don’t have pictures, it ended up in the dog bowl.. Oh well, it’s just water and dried off to start over again Smile

Another Rosy Rash

Friday morning started out normal with Savannah keeping Daddy company while he ate breakfast and got ready to go to work then coming upstairs with me to start working. Then all of a sudden she was really upset. We had already had breakfast so I doubted she was hungry (tried water and crackers but no help), then figured change her diaper just in case – she’s never been upset over a wet/dirty diaper but it could start at any time.. Then I saw it.. Bright/Dark red.. Oy.. She SCREAMED and cried while I changed her which almost brought me to tears. I hated having to use the wipes but of course had to clean her up. When I finished she was so upset she couldn’t sit up or stand so I held her, rocked and sang until she calmed down. She actually ended up falling asleep (it was maybe 9AM) which was fine by me as long as she wasn’t upset.

I was able to get my computer, water etc on the couch (holy crap was my arm killing me) and sit down with her so I could work while she slept. I didn’t want to try putting her down in fear she’d wake up and be upset again.

I think she was out for almost an hour then I noticed her eyes flutter a little.. I braced myself for her being upset but she opened her eyes and smiled! Oh thank goodness!! I finished getting her dressed (I didn’t bother trying when she had been upset), got her a snack and she went on her merry way for the most part. A couple times she got upset but I’m thinking her diaper or something rubbed against the rash and hurt her..

The rest of the day I tried to keep her busy and distracted to hopefully not notice the pain as much.. We read some books, she played with her toys, watched a couple episodes of a show called Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood (basically a cartoon of Mr Roger’s Neighborhood) and played in her ball pit. After lunch she ended up in the kitchen cabinets. She has recently taken up rag sorting – she pulls them out of the cabinet one by one and puts them in piles. Then the piles turn into different piles or a rag mountain and then she crawls around with one or two like she’s cleaning the floor.. I really should give her a damp one to do this with but alas, it never happens.

Today, Melanie was close to Savannah most of the day including with the rags.. Oh what a nice new surface to pile on!!

Rodney kept out of arms reach..

Savannah then used Melanie to stand up with and starting petting her and giggling.. Following by adorable puppy hugs!!!

Playdate

A friend found another place for the kiddos to play indoors so we set a playdate for today. It turned out to be perfect timing since it is rainy and cold outside. We met at 9AM and the kiddos played like crazy for two hours. There were toys galore, a huge playsets with slides and climbing (too much for Sav right now), play kitchens, rocking chair, and so much more.

We were able to get Savannah to climb the playmats after watching the other two for a while and playing by herself. She had so much fun! We will definitely be going back since it is much closer than the other play places we've been too and less expensive ($5 for her, nothing for me!).
