This boy is crazy in the bath. It would be easier at a water park!

Painting Pumpkins

We painted pumpkins again this year using old house paint samples I had since it is all I could find so far. Unbelievably there was hardly any mess!

Tyler Loves to Read - Sleep, Not So Much

We have been reading a lot more lately since there have been a bunch of rainy afternoons. The books that have been unpacked are like new since most haven't been seen since June.

Tyler has gotten really into reading. So much that he changed his bedtime routine on us. We have our normal routine that's been the same since Savannah was born (it just gets repeated for Tyler).

However, after we leave his room his routine starts. First he plays with whatever toy he took to bed - talking to it, pretending it is falling and helping to save it from death, swinging it around like an airplane.. Next he sits up for a couple minutes followed by crawling to the end of his bed and staring into the camera. It's creepy, it's like he sees us or something else. After a minute or two of being a creepy peeper he gets out of bed, turns on the light then grabs a book and sits in his chair to read. Sometimes it's all reading, sometimes he starts rocking in the chair like crazy (depending on the direction there is a lot of banging). It's actually pretty cute when I don't think about how late he's staying up and that he won't sleep in so he'll be grouchy the next day!

Our (Mostly) Fearless Corn Maze Leader

We went to one of the farms this afternoon to check out the pumpkins. We ended up seeing but not getting any pumpkins :)

We did adventure through a corn maze with Savannah leading the way, play on their Playset, get Savannah a unicorn painted on her face, wander around their store and took a hayride complete with passing three dump trucks which had Tyler squealing in joy.

There are a few more we'll hopefully visit this month and one of these days we'll even remember to get some pumpkins (I hope!).

Fall Leaves!!

It's really fall up here! We found a huge pile of leaves by the playground at our favorite German restaurant. Savannah started picking some up to play with then I clued her in to what they're really good for - showers! She called her brother over to join and they both went crazy.

I couldn't even get a clear picture they were moving and laughing so much.

Master Builder

One of Savannah's birthday presents was a set of Magformers. Her set included squares and triangles with magnets on each side that she can build with. First she was just making them in piles (squares vs triangles), messing up her piles then doing it again.

Then I showed her the booklet it came with and she was super excited to build the things shown. Meaning she wanted us to build then for her. We obliged and tried to have her help but she got frosted very easily because they stick to whichever one you get them close to - and it's not always the right place.

This morning she brought them out and wanted me to build again. I told her she should try and I'd help her and gave her the booklet. She got started and after a couple "Oh my gosh, that's not right!" she had the first side of a rocket done. I held up the first two pieces going vertical then showed her if she put the third next to them they'd stay up by themselves (the third was a different direction so it was like a stand for the first two). I let go and she finished all by herself! She was super proud of her rocket as she should be!

Montessori Camp

Savannah just finished her two week Montessori camp. She had a great time learning about creature under the sea! We were planning on her going to the same place for preschool but she had been begging me to go back to the Y the whole two weeks so I enrolled her for preschool there instead.

Here are a few pics from Ms Dina of their adventures under the sea.

Backpacks

Savannah has been using the backpack Lexy gave her for camp. After a couple days, Tyler decided he needed one too so he adopted her old one our previous neighbors gave us. He will not leave the house without it! Thankfully he always knows where it is..
