Savannah seems to be channeling Melanie - they now circle the outside table as a team!

Walking!!

At today's playdate with Ella and Joey all of a sudden things clicked and Savannah started walking! Not a step or two as it sounds like normally happens at the beginning, she was walking all over the place! And just to show how balanced she is, she started standing around and dancing.   Videos:

Tonight Savannah took a long walk with Marc for multiple laps around the table. I think she's channeling Melanie who along with Rodney followed the two smiling. She didn't completely let go but she was just holding onto one of his hands and moving very fast. Video of Walking with Daddy

The Wienke Christmas Tree

Unlike years past we bought our Christmas tree early in December and got it up in the dining room before the double digit days - yay!

I thought Savannah would be interested in the new tree in our house. Well, here's what she was doing as the tree went up..

The next night we pulled out the lights. Colorful, shiny, fun. We got a glimmer of interest for about 3 minutes..

Then she was off again! Daddy tried to grab her attention but nope, box pushing it was.

Rodney was more interested in the lights than Savannah! Ok, he wasn't this interested but it was fun for me and he stayed there loving the attention! :)

Savannah's activites while I put the lights on the tree were varied but none included the tree..

The only ornaments that ended up on the tree this year were a few photo props from a birthday party we had and some random ornaments that fell out of the light box. Oh, and my Star on top.. :)

Bouncing

The other night Savannah realized the joy of bouncing. It was sooo funny! Caught her on video with my phone complete with squeaking and giggles. :-)

Chandler Holiday Parade and Santa

Chandler had their annual holiday parade and tree lighting this past weekend, we took Savannah to see and hang out with some of her friends. First stop was to see Santa, even though the line was long she did well waiting in line. We had some help keeping her entertained by kids running around, lights etc.

When it was her turn she was not thrilled as Daddy tried to sit her on Santa’s lap so Santa offered Marc to sit on his lap with Savannah. Maybe it’s just be but it was weird.. Creepy.. And hilarious since it wasn’t me!! Savannah still was not sold but at least she didn’t scream the entire time..

After Santa we met up with our friends just in time for the parade. Ella and Ferris found a great chill spot on the corner..

Savannah ended up on Daddy’s shoulders..

Savannah enjoyed the lights of the parade but loved the music! She took Daddy on a couple long walks and one with Mommy to get out some of her energy and see the trees wrapped in lights.

We left before the tree lighting since it was late and caught a couple eye wipes – hopefully next year! We did see the “tree” though – it is made out of tumbleweeds painted white!!

Chanukkah 2013

We lit the candles and (I) said the blessings four nights this year. Savannah received a new Hanukkah board book which she has been reading a lot and pointing at the objects for me to tell her what they are. She would stare at the candles like she was enchanted. They were pretty of course! She also received a plush dreidel which sings “I Have a Little Dreidel” – she carried it around for a couple days and is still hugging it every time she sees it. Last she received a Baby Signing Time DVD which she loves watching. A bunch of new signs to learn for all of us including cracker, drink, juice, horse, frog, grandma and grandpa!

Cereal Out!

Lately Savannah is not interested in her breakfast cereal. I've tried adding fresh fruit, Applesauce and her food pouches but none have really worked. She likes the spoon so I'll put some cereal on it to give to her but it only works a couple times. It seems to be recommended for her to eat because of the added iron.

I remembered the bread Marc used for sandwiches was Iron Kids with extra iron.  She loves it - score! So many days she gets a piece of toast for breakfast with either peanut butter, jelly or cream cheese on it (or peanut butter and jelly like today). I've made her grilled cheese sandwiches (with tomatoes like mommy eats) for lunch a couple times too and she gobbles them up too.

I still keep trying the cereal some days since we have a whole container left and  she's prone to switch her tastes back and forth a lot. I just make a couple tablespoons of it each time so we don't waste a lot.

Black Friday Shopping

While others were freezing their butts off waiting in lines overnight, fighting for the last cheap blender and exhibiting shameful behavior to get their kids the latest "must have" toys, Savannah and I did our Black Friday shopping at the Children's Play Place. Complete with a cute little shopping cart she flew around at great speed! She looked mighty Happy with her purchases, and no added stress!!

I had no plans of going out this morning as I didn't want anything to do with the Black Friday mess out there.. However we had a rough one last night which ended in Savannah going to sleep the final time a little after 2 and me at 2:30 (to make sure she stayed down and was OK). I was so exhausted this morning and decided the play place would be better than using the TV to entertain her while I was a zombie.

It worked out great! In addition to her shopping trip, she played in the kitchen with her new "purchases". I showed her the drawers and she started putting the toys in them. She then figured out the Microwave and oven also opened so she made hot utensils for breakfast :-)

In true form, she also spent time playing with puzzles, the first couple didn't keep her attention but the third really got her interested. It has 5 different colored pegs and on each peg goes shapes in matching colors - the left peg has 5 blue hexagons, the second has 4 red squares etc. She pulled all of the shapes off one by one and examined them with a big smile. Then she decided to put them back. The first couple I pointed to the peg for her to put them on, she did then did a few more herself to the correct peg. I'm constantly amazed by this girl!

There was also a little car there and no surprise she was very interested in it. I helped her into it and pushed it around some to get her the idea and she was off! Well, in reverse lol It was on artificial grass which seemed to not let it move very easily. It was so cute when she grabbed the wheel and started turning it (prop - doesn't actually turn the car) while saying "vroom"!

A great morning for us - it's easy to tell when she falls asleep in the car before we get out of the parking lot! Could've only been better if Daddy hadn't had to work and could've come with us..
