Train Crash

Oh the train.. It has so many uses except the one I originally bought it for – for her to walk with it.. She has been trying to get the blocks into the side but hasn’t figured out that they have to be in a specific position to fit. So she gets frustrated, the blocks are thrown and she moves on..

She has started to push it from the side while kneeling in addition to riding on the back.

And when it doesn’t do what she wants it to – down it comes!!! She’s a little destructive.. Thank goodness we don’t have any real “good” things she can break..

Today's Office

I will admit it, I am unbelievably lucky to have a very cushy job. I get the benefits of a stay at home mom with the added paycheck. Yes, i do complain some but even then I know how awesome it is.

That being said, today we took full advantage and I worked outside with my little one. She played with chalk, a couple toys and then at the table with me. It is beautiful out - I am very grateful!

Since I was able to get a lot done already now we're off to go have lunch with Daddy. :)

Laptop

How fast can she eat a chicken strip while watching TV? Too fast! Marc had a class the other night and I wasn't feeling to great so I picked up chicken strips from Burger King. She loved them! She even turned down a fry for the second chicken strip and started double fisting! Not a big fan of the breading though..

I also bought a laptop for Savannah  little while ago for the keeping her entertained while I'm working purpose.. She liked it st first because it was new but when I started trying to show her the game I realized most of them are beyond her right now. She does like playing the piano part though..

Painting and Sorting While I Work

What is a little one to do while her mommy is working on the computer? Play on the other computer of course! I found a few games on the BabyFirst website that only have her hit the spacebar to play. She’s actually getting better at just hitting the spacebar but hits the other keys a lot too – including keys that do all sorts of other things on the computer like the Windows key.

With some great suggestions from Mimi, I also brought some stuff from my craft room out for her to play with. I have a half dozen or so fake flowers from Ikea that she likes to hold and wave around as well as a tote that I use to bring things downstairs to work on. I gave them to her and she has been putting the flowers in and out of the different pockets then sitting back to stare at her work. She also found the crumpled up paper I left in it which ended up being more things to sort in the pockets. Yay for easy toys!!

Playground

Savannah and I went out for a walk while Daddy had to run out for a bit on Saturday and ended up at one of the parks on the other side of the neighborhood. First we walked around a bit (Sav walking while holding my hands) then she stopped and was pointing at the one of the play sets. I took her over and sat her on part of it and she just looked around taking it all in. I then took her down one of the slides but she was not a fan.. I noticed there was a pail, shovel and a couple other sand toys so we sat down to play in the sand.. Much better – she dug her hands into the sand, drug the shovel into the sand and poured it out and we giggled a lot while we buried a star.

On Sunday we went with Daddy to the park by our house to play.. I had told Daddy about our trip to the park so this time Daddy took Savannah around and I took the camera… Once again, first order of business was to walk around..

After the walk they headed to the slide. While she didn’t seem scared like on Saturday she still wasn’t sold on it..

So they sat down to play in the sand.. She was not as amused with it this time – not sure if it was because there were no toys? She didn’t even really crack a smile but I did get a wave!

After a few minutes she wanted to walk again and ended up wanting to sit in the shaded sand.. There we did get some smiles – especially while she climbed on Daddy and got kisses!

Before we headed home, Daddy took Savannah for a walk on the play set and tried a different slide. It turns out on Sunday we were missing the key fun component needed for the slide – Daddy!! We got a bunch of smiles and giggles the last couple times!

We of course had fun and planning to go back this week with Lexy, Savannah’s favorite 8 year old :)

A New Book and Doodler

In an effort to keep Savannah a little more entertained while I’m working I went off to the toy store. I realized that most of her toys upstairs she’s had since she was a tiny baby and probably aren’t all that fun anymore. At the very least they are not interactive to hold her attention.

One easy choice was a new doodle toy, she loves the one Lexy gave her so I bought another for upstairs.

I also found an Eric Carle book – Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What Do You Hear? - that has a set of buttons on the right to make the noises of the animals. No surprise she likes this one too!!

Strike a Pose

Savannah's latest pose is like she's ready to do a headstand.. When she's on the rug or carpet we'll tumble her over but she's doing it EVERYWHERE!!
