Bathtime

Not only has Savannah gotten much better crawling on the tile but she’s crawling all over the bath tub as well. We load it up with toys and she has a grand ol’ time except still trying to get her used to the water in her face. It’s only been ten and a half months though. :)

I left the whale at the old house so I’ll have to make a new one for her here, she likes hitting on him and talking to him. Yes, it’s a boy whale. :)

Doodles

Marc downloaded a neat doodle app on his tablet for Savannah since she’s so interested in the electronics. Basically you move your finger on the screen and it makes a line where you move – each time a different color. First Daddy tried to show Savannah how it worked – complete with stylus that she loves.



Then came her turn which started with interested looks and ended with smacking.



Then she realized Daddy’s ploy was to keep her entertained so he could get stuff done on his computer – and totally foiled it! The monkey always wins :)

What is she up to now?!

We are having more and more fun with Savannah as she’s learning and getting more active. She is starting to react to us saying “no” but of course doesn’t like it. I say react because she’ll stop and look at us for a minute then try again. It’s a nice cycle.
So far she does not react when I try to convince her to crawl to me however I found that if I smack my hand on the tile (or foot) she’ll come a crawlin complete with a big ol’ grin!

While at the tile she noticed the dog’s food bowls and wow are they fun. Thankfully they are on stands as I fear otherwise she’d be trying to lick them – as if we’re not feeding her enough!?!

Mac and Cheese

Savannah has finally had one of our favorite foods! We haven’t been holding out on her on purpose, I just don’t make it often.. I did however find a “Cooking Light” recipe that I used to make this time and it was sooo good., I couldn’t tell it was light although Marc may have.



Dinner is the easiest meal with our little monkey since she eats whatever we’re eating. I’ve been eating salads for lunch most days and while I’ve given her lettuce a couple times she ends up coughing/choking a little. I figure skip it for a while. To make it easy, I made little chicken and turkey meatballs – with rice cereal and zuchinni – that I can nuke and give her for lunch along with whatever else is around (yogurt, veggies, fruit, crackers/bread etc).



Cereal is always fun, Savannah likes to take the spoon but when there is food on it she ends up taking it off with her hands and feeding herself then putting the empty spoon in her mouth (or waving it around).



She is always a mess which would be fine except that she HATES when we clean her face and hands. Hates. Seriously. Screams bloody murder, cries and totally tomato faced. I hope she gets over that soon!

The Laundry Game

I’m sure you all know that I do not usually do laundry. My awesome Hubs takes care of it – in part because if he waits for me he will run out of clothes.. Since things are a little crazy with a week of vacation right before we move I did a few loads to help out while Marc was stuck at work. I even had a little “helper”. Mommy quickly learned that the folded clothes needed to be out of reach after the piles were destroyed twice.. I can only guess she was trying to sort although I don’t know what parameters she was using – she took the laundry basket and was throwing the clothes all around her.

Virginia Vacation

We had a wonderful time on our trip back east. Savannah was such a good baby on the flight even though it was an hour and a half longer than it was supposed to be. We were out and about almost the whole 6 days, our activites included

• Breakfast and a stroll through Old Town
• Dad’s (Grandpa’s) 70th birthday celebration with family from NY/NJ/DC
• Father’s Day BBQ at the Winderweedle house with ALL their local family (gosh I miss them!)
• Trip to Meadowlark Botanical Gardens
• Trip to the Newseum
• Multiple lunches and dinners out with friends and family

Savannah really ate everything we did – I  couldn’t believe it. She had beef ribs, crab cakes, calamari, bruschetta, and carbonara amoung other things. Of course, everyone thought she was just too cute (can you blame them?!) and so unbelievably happy go lucky. That’s my girl!

I was so happy to see so much of my family and friends (some not seen for YEARS!). We really need to get back there more often.. If only the plane tickets weren’t so darned expensive and Marc had more vacation time..

While I remembered to bring the camera I forgot to take hardly any pictures!!! Horrible Mommy, I know. I did get one VIDEO of Marc tickling Savannah after breakfast.

An an unexpected surprise – Savannah met her cousin Spencer!! They were sooo cute together – playing and giggling in the car, making faces at each other. She really mimic’d him a lot! By the time I remembered to grab a snap Savannah was pretty tired so we didn’t get any smiles but I’m just glad they got to hang out.
